". . . to support and defend the constitution of the United
States against all enemies, foreign and domestic."
Ben Franklin one pointed out that one of the greatest weaknesses in the US Constitution is the integrity of the governed. History has shown that if voter fraud is rampant, good people eventually decide that rigged elections are the norm and they abandon the fraudulent electoral process. Like throwing kerosene on a fire, some of the discouraged voters decide to "double down" on voter fraud and things get even worse. The Voter Integrity Project of North Carolina (VIP-NC) is founded on the principle that free and fair elections are the bedrock of our liberty and that defending the Constitution also means defending the right to free and fair elections.
The three primary goals of VIP-NC:
1) To train, equip and organize people who want to help correct the weaknesses in our current electoral process
2) To gather data on the extent of the voter-integrity problems in NC
3) To propose and support legislative actions that would bring long-term stability back into the electoral system
While there are similar organizations springing up all across our nation, VIP is starting as a North Carolina initiative. It springs from my outrage at the news of how election after election is stolen in some amazingly brazen way. Organizations in other states have started paving the way to turn this problem around. Much of VIP-NC's inspiration comes from King Street Patriots and their True the Vote campaign, that started in Texas. After close coordination through leader meetings and training workshops, they have agreed to support the efforts of VIP-NC.
These efforts will start off slowly, but should pick up considerable speed in the Fall of 2011 after my final days in uniform. Until then, we will be quietly organizing, so I hope you will consider digging deeper into our efforts by either volunteering to help us or by visiting our Votechecker blog once in a while.
Anybody from any political party (or no party at all) can join our effort, provided they view the constitution as something worth honoring and preserving.
